The fall season, with leaves that brown, and days that turn more quickly into night, can feel like gloom settling in. But what if the falling of the leaves and the bare left in the place of fullness, is really a shift from one phase of growth to the next? The tree grows taller, and more full with each passing year. But without fall, there is no spring.
And isn’t that a reminder of how it works for us — as He works in us? “–assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:21-24.
Yes, may the Lord continue to renew us, to make us more like himself, season after season, from one degree of glory to another (2 Corinthians 3:18). Amen.
Keep enjoying the written word, friends. It’s a gift!
