A poem about purpose. The point of it all is not centered on me, but on God. May He be glorified.
Can you see it? The emphasis on “me” in worship? And how God can help us with our lives, our plans, our goals? Or, how God can make us whatever it is that we want to be so that we can do whatever it is we want to do?
I used to sing those songs, pray those prayers, and focus a lot on myself. I’m by no means completely turned around, but I see it now. The emphasis on us. A “me centered” theology…in a temporary world, run by a sovereign God. And it doesn’t add up.
Instead, it’s all about Him. It really is. He created, He provided, He lived, died, and rose again. And He’s running everything. “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36. “Me” is not in there without “Him.” I’m dependent. He’s independent. I’m limited. He’s limitless.
And rather than draw from Him so that I can do all the things I think I want to do. I’m trying, more and more, to simply focus on Him. And I’m so far from where I want to be. But He is worthy of striving, and He is helping me as my heart is tuned to sing His praise. Remember His provision. His grace. His mercy. His plans.
Because It’s not about me. It’s about Him. And praise Him that He saves me — to His glory. I pray that I can be a vessel for Him to work in and through to His glory. Amen.
Keep enjoying the written word, friends. It’s a gift!
